Professional WebResume is a resume design tool sold through the retail channel. One of the primary features of the product was the ability to produce high quality resumes in HTML. Job hunters needed a way to quickly post their resumes to their own Web space. iHost Networks provided a custom hosting service to Professional WebResume customers that allowed them to have an online resume for 90 days. Once signed up, iHost Networks automatically submitted the job hunters information to leading internet job boards.
Pacifica Software, the publisher of the product, generated ongoing commissions from job hunters who chose to continue the service beyond the 90 day period. The resume hosting service proved to be an excellent way to introduce customers to additional services, resulting in more commissions. For example, many customers chose to buy domain name registration and regular hosting services.
